![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't think they're geared to be defensive (meaning expand under-empire into areas you won’t invade and digging in before advancing) because they take unit damage easily they have distinct disadvantage when multiple enemy stacks are present. I feel like you can't be hyper aggressive in expansion because you eventually will run out of enemies, or at least reasonably safe stacks to kill or strategically feasible settlements. You gain food with some special location specific buildings, winning battles, raiding, and certain under-city buildings. Basically you need food as upkeep for armies, settlements, and some mild buffs at the threat of some somewhat harsh debuffs (Echin also needs it for special actions in some cases). ![]() Pretty much title, getting fatigued on a ME Echin campaign but I noticed what a pain in the ass the food mechanic still is.
